Citizens United Productions is happy to announce the launch of a brand new website for our Barack Obama documentary!

Citizens United Productions is happy to announce the launch of a brand new website for our Barack Obama documentary! www.hypemovie.com. Check it out and reserve your copy of the movie!

So in keeping with our theme, today's blog will focus on what the liberal media has been up to with its desperate attempts in trying to make Obama less hype and more substance. It is proving difficult to find something in Obama's recordless record to hang their hats on.

Barack Obama is finally in Iraq. He formulated his withdrawal policy two years ago. He didn't think he needed to go to Iraq and see for himself if the surge was working. His advisers at Code Pink and Moveon.org told him that the war needed to end regardless of the conditions on the ground. So Obama and his followers in the liberal media are in a political pinch. The surge worked. Americans believe we can win in Iraq. So why did the Democrats pick an anti-war candidate who has no interest in being a win-the-war... Read More

Press Release: CU Launches National Advertising Campaign for Upcoming Film, “Hype –The Obama Effect”

CU Launches National Advertising Campaign for Upcoming Film, “Hype –The Obama Effect”

Citizens United launched a national television advertising campaign today for its feature-length documentary, “Hype – The Obama Effect,” which will be released in early September.

The spot, which begins airing on Fox News Channel today, features former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, commentators Tucker Carlson and Dick Morris, and the Rev. Joe Watkins speaking about their encounters with the overwhelming hype that follows Senator Obama everywhere he goes.

“Hype – The Obama Effect” is a full-length, feature documentary that goes beyond the media adulation surrounding Barack Obama’s meteoric and unexamined rise to the national spotlight. The film features dozens of interviews and untold stories from the earliest beginnings of his political career in Chicago, to his brief stint as a U.S. Senator, through today. “Hype – The Obama Effect” looks past the... CU In The News - Portfolio.com

While not entirely correct (we released Hillary The Movie in January, but were legally barred from advertising it), I thought you might like to see this from Portfolio.com:

"Hillary’s defeat presents a bitter irony for another Clinton enemy, David Bossie, whose political group, Citizens United, could not release Hillary: The Movie ('The first and last word in what the Clintons want America to forget!' during her campaign because of Federal Election Commission regulations.

"After she conceded, the restrictions were lifted, but the movie’s potential audience seems greatly diminished. (As of mid-June, DickMorris.com still offered the DVD for $23.95.)

MSM Actually Investigates Obama(!)

USA Today looks like they actually did some investigative reporting on Barack Obama’s record today by disclosing the following:

“On Wednesday nights during Illinois General Assembly sessions, a group of lobbyists and lawmakers used to gather at the headquarters of the Illinois Manufacturers' Association for a weekly poker game. Barack Obama, who represented part of Chicago as state senator from 1997-2004, was a regular.

"These days, Obama says lobbyists are part of the problem with Washington, and he refuses to accept their fundraising help. But during his eight years in Springfield, Ill., Obama played golf and basketball with them and hit them up for campaign donations, according to records and interviews. He shared meals with them, though he was careful to pay his own way, they say.

"Obama also accepted lobbyist money when he ran for the U.S. Senate in 2004,... Read More

Seriously?

In light of today's victory for the Constitution in the Supreme Court's ruling on the DC gun ban, this video has been making its way around the internet.

In it, Obama decries the notion that any infringement on gun owners' rights is just the beginning of the end for the 2nd Amendment in this country (or as he puts it, "the camel's nose under the tent").

Of course, this line of reasoning doesn't apply across the board for Senator Obama, and given his recent "evolutions" on everything from gun rights to Iraq, that shouldn't suprise any of you.

During his days as a State Senator, Obama led the charge against a bill that prevented partial-birth abortions (a bill that unanimously passed the U.S. Senate, by the way) for the precise reason that ANY restriction whatsoever on abortions was an infringement on a womans' "right" to an abortion.

Hmmmm.

Citizens United In The News

From Bloomberg:

"One group seeking to benefit from Obama's decision is Citizens United, headed by former congressional staff member David Bossie. It is preparing a documentary critical of Obama. Bossie worked for the House and Senate committees that investigated President Bill Clinton.

"'I'm spending millions of dollars to inform and educate the American people on who Barack Obama is,' Bossie said. 'I am hopeful that conservative donors across the country will see what we are doing and want to participate.'"

One Down, Two To Go

Jim Johnson, formerly of Fannie Mae and Obama’s VP vetting committee, resigned the other day amid allegations that he received favorable loans from one of the worst perpetrators of the subprime mortgage crisis. Because of the enormous pressure applied by critics (as in one of our earlier blog posts), Jim Johnson resigned his post so as not to distract from Obama’s campaign. Now another member of Obama’s VP vetting committee is coming under fire.

John McCain and the RNC smell blood in the water and are attacking Eric Holder for his dubious past as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton administration. Mr. Holder was the one behind the infamous last-second pardon of billionaire tax-evader Marc Rich during the final days of the Clinton presidency. Rich was hiding in Europe after receiving charges of tax evasion for illegal oil deals with Iran.

Obama's choice to rely on the advice of someone who vouched for someone like Marc Rich is more old-school Chicago machine... Read More

CU in the news - "Whispers get loud around Michelle Obama"

From the Chicago Tribune -

"As complaints about the 'pride' remarks picked up steam, Barack Obama said he thought people should 'lay off.' Asked to respond to unsubstantiated allegations about his wife on the Internet, the candidate argued that raising the question arguably 'gives legs' to the story.

"But some conservatives say people have a right to ask.

"'She's a Harvard Law graduate. She's a very savvy, incredibly educated, capable woman,' said David Bossie, president of Citizens United, a conservative advocacy group.

"'She can stand on her own, and that's why they have her out there speaking,' Bossie said. 'If she was just sitting back not being involved, she wouldn't get scrutiny.'

"Much of her press coverage has been adoring. She has been featured on magazine covers, often flashing her high-wattage smile, with stories that remark on her natural way with crowds both large and small."

Michelle Obama

I think Michelle Obama’s record and statements should be fair game in this campaign. How could they not be? Cindy McCain’s tax returns are fair game.

Teresa Heinz’s statements were fair game. And of course, Hillary Clinton’s record has been examined 100 times over. The idea that Michelle Obama’s record should be exempt from scrutiny would be a glaring double standard. In a recent poll, 53% of American voters said they think the record of candidate spouses should receive scrutiny equal to that of senior campaign advisers. So this is not a unique position I’m taking.

I don’t consider asking questions about a candidate spouse’s record and statements equal to “picking on” the person. If Barack Obama becomes the next President of the United States, Michelle Obama will have a lot of influence. That fact in itself should be reason to make sure her record is examined.

When John Cusack Attacks

80s bad movie guy John Cusack cut a spot for the off the grid lefties at moveon.org. If that’s the best they can do (it’s awful), well then John McCain is going to be the next president.

The reason why the Bush 3rd term line won’t work is because it doesn’t pass the smell test. Anyone who objectively covers politics knows that John McCain has gone out of his way to be the Republican maverick on a ton of issues. Cusack wouldn’t be aware of that looking out from his gated community.

Here’s a challenge for you John - find me an issue where Barack Obama differs from the stale liberal line. Tick tock. And at his next Hollywood fundraiser, ask Barack how he can be more liberal than Bernie Sanders.

Hypocrisy You Can Believe in

Now that the presidential nominees for both parties have been decided, the focus of this election has turned to the VP decision. Filling this open slot has taken center stage as the nominee’s choice for VP, even potential choices for VP reveal much about the direction our country will take in the next four to eight years and beyond.

On the Republican side, McCain lightheartedly commented that he runs all of his potential running mates through a screening process that includes a Google search. As funny as this may seem, the fact of the matter is, the search results will provide helpful insight into the reputation of the person who will be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

For the Democrats, their VP screening process reveals the truth behind the messianic luster to the Obama campaign. One of the three most important people on Obama’s vetting committee is Jim Johnson. It is now coming out that he received millions of dollars in favorable loans while he was at Fannie...

I pack up two decades worth of file cabinets, documents, depositions, and investigative reports on the Clintons. Of course - it's all going to a storage facility, because if there's one thing I've learned in my years of investigating the Clintons, it's that they'll be back.

Proof (again) that the MSM is in the tank for the Dems

I know it was established long ago that the so-called mainstream media (CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, PBS to name a few) has been in the tank for the Democrats for decades.

As I watched Larry King last night, I heard another nauseating example of this foregone conclusion. I remember Carole Simpson when she was working for ABC “objectively” covering the various Clinton scandals of the 1990s from Whitewater to Impeachment.

So check out what the completely unbiased Simpson said last night:

CAROLE SIMPSON, FORMER ABC NEWS ANCHOR, SUPPORTS CLINTON:
“…I was very upset Tuesday night when I heard her speech. And I was like waiting for her concession, something to say about Obama. And it was like she was still running again. I looked at my husband and I'm going, she's still running. And I just couldn't believe it. I was very disappointed with her. And you know I'm a dyed in the wool Hillary supporter.” (Larry King... Will Obama stop the DCCC/DSCC from taking lobbyist's money?

Message to Barack Obama: You now control the Democrat Party – whether you like it or not. And by that I mean the ENTIRE Democrat Party.

You banned the DNC from taking anymore lobbyist money, but it’s only window dressing unless you tell Schumer at the DSCC and Van Hollen at the DCCC to do the same - and you know it!

So if taking lobbyist money is corrupting – which you clearly think it is - then do not let lobbyist money fund YOUR party’s House and Senate races. Something else to think about: many House and Senate races that the DCCC and DSCC will be funding are being held in presidential battleground states, and you don’t want any of this so-called “dirty” money indirectly helping you, do you? I didn’t think so.

The Audacity of too much Hope

Barack Obama, on the campaign trail for the first time as the Democratic Nominee, addressed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee yesterday.

Mr. Obama fails to grasp the gravity of the situation in Israel. Obama “will strongly urge Arab governments to take steps to normalize relations with Israel and to fulfill their responsibility to pressure extremists and provide real support for President Abbas and Prime Minister Fayyad.”

This would make sense, except that the leaders in nearly every regime in the region are openly hostile to Israel. The situation in the Middle East isn’t a case of administrations that are trying to control their extremist factions. This is the case of governments that pander to governmental and religious factions hostile to Israel, or even worse, are openly hostile to Israel themselves.

There is no moderate government struggling to control extremist elements within its borders. For instance, Hamas, a group that has refused to...

CU In The News -- The Hill: GOP roots for Clinton

Veteran Republican fundraisers and strategists hope that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) can revive their party’s apathetic base even as her 2008 presidential campaign has reached its final hours.

Republican insiders say that if presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) selects Clinton as his running mate, it would energize the Republican base and fundraising. They say presumptive GOP nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) would not have to work as hard to appease conservative voters if Clinton landed on the ticket.

. . .

“I do believe if she is on the ticket it is a motivating factor for the Republican base to turn out in higher numbers, which McCain desperately needs,” said David Bossie, president of Citizens United, a conservative political advocacy group. “He needs as high a turnout as humanly possible from the Republican conservative base because he’s had trouble with the base.”

The Enemy Appears

The debacle of a presidential primary has, at long last, reached its conclusion, and Barack Obama has emerged from the smoke and rubble as the Democratic nominee. Why the Democrats would pick someone this unqualified as their best hope for the next leader of the free world just reveals more insight into the flawed working’s of the collective mind of that party.

The road ahead for John McCain and the Republican Party is clear. Senator McCain must avail himself of his wealth of experience to point out the inexperience evident in his opponent’s mantra that calls for change.

A piece in the Wall Street Journal today entitled “The Obama We Don’t Know” starts this arduous process of revealing the truth behind the candidate, an unpolished portrait of the sort that, until now, the media has neglected.

For instance, the article calls into question Obama’s reach with independents by highlighting the fact that: “We can't find a single issue on which Mr. Obama has broken... Read More

Next up - Hillary for VPOTUS?

OK, big shocker, Hillary wants to be VPOTUS. Newsflash! Hillary is addicted to power.

I can picture Barack staring at the ceiling last night before he went to sleep asking himself whether he still wants to be president if Hillary is his #2 (And Bill his #3).

So the question of the day is: Can Obama still win if Hillary is not on the ticket? I bet Barack & Co. are polling this very question as we speak. And here are a few more questions that are adding to Barack's headache this morning:

1. Do people consider who the VP is when they are in the voting booth voting for president (will she help in PA, OH, FL, MI)?

2. Will the Democrat Party & delegates demand he pick Hillary for fear of a fractured party?

3. Can he get away with not picking her (will the Hillary supporters come home at the end of the day)?

4. Will Hillary on the ticket energize conservatives, which McCain desperately needs?

5. Does Hillary ruin his message of...

WaPo calls Obama out on Iraq

I almost fell out of my chair yesterday morning when I read an editorial in The Washington Post entitled, “The Iraqi Upturn” which actually puts liberal media darling Barack Obama on the defensive regarding his plans in Iraq.

Is Obama, the anti-war candidate, capable of making plans for actually winning the war? How will his far left support react to this? Obama needs to clarify whether conditions on the ground will have anything to do with his decision to withdrawal troops as soon as he takes office.

His recent statements seem to indicate that troops will come home even if we are winning, and he doesn’t care much for what the commanders on the ground say about this. Obama needs to come up with a skilled political move to navigate this one. How can the anti-war candidate become a win-the-war candidate? How many independents will vote for Senator Obama in the...

The Kiss of Death

Susan Sarandon, the font of political wisdom and patriotism that she is, has declared that she will move to Canada or Italy if Senator McCain wins the election.

If there was ever a kiss-of-death endorsement (well, aside from Hamas, Farrakhan, and Fidel), it’s the approval of the Hollywood elites. You think that blue-collar working-class Americans think that Obama’s an elitist now? Just wait till the gazillionaires in Hollywood start telling contractors that they oughta drive Priuses instead of F-150s and that families who have better things to worry about oughta be using one square of toilet paper because otherwise they’re going to destroy the environment (thanks Sheryl Crow – that one’s never going to get old!).

Of course, because we’re such polite folks, we put up a big thank-you sign in Hollywood after the 2004 elections – we can’t wait to put Susan and the rest of the...

Obama and Iraq

The ever insightful Jim Geraghty over at National Review has a great post up about Senator Obama’s refusal to visit Iraq with Senator McCain. The Obama camp’s reaction to McCain’s proposal to visit Iraq:

"John McCain's proposal is nothing more than a political stunt, and we don't need any more 'Mission Accomplished' banners or walks through Baghdad markets to know that Iraq's leaders have not made the political progress that was the stated purpose of the surge. The American people don't want any more false promises of progress, they deserve a real debate about a war that has overstretched our military, and cost us thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars without making us safer."

Is Obama really so closed-minded that he’s willing to proceed with whatever Iraq policy that the Move-On crowd has concocted without seeing the conditions on the ground... Read More

Hillary for SCOTUS?!?

All the buzz on the internet recently about the prospect of Senator Obama appointing Hillary Clinton to the Supreme Court if he should be elected president is nothing short of an outrage. How many times does someone need to lie under oath or obstruct justice before they are taken out of consideration for the high court?

The other question is who is pushing this nonsense? Only someone in Hillaryland could be doing this without laughing out loud. I love the way the Clinton’s just rely on people being ignorant.

Oh, let’s just act like my ethical failings at the Rose Law Firm never happened. Let’s act like the investigations of the 90’s never happened. The Clintons like to say that the Whitewater investigation lasted six years and cost tens of millions of dollars and Hillary was never charged with anything. What I say to that is this: the investigation didn’t last 6 years because nothing was there. And what kind of standard is this? How low have the Clintons...

Why do Iowans continue to re-elect Tom Harkin?

Hawkeye State residents, can I let you in on something? Tom Harkin is not of sound mind. And he is exhibit 1A in the case for term limits.

Recently, the leftist Senator said the following:

Harkin… “told Iowa reporters last week that McCain’s background as the son and grandson of Navy admirals creates a ‘dangerous’ situation because he can only view the world through the prism of the military. ‘He has a hard time thinking beyond that,’ Harkin said, according to The Des Moines Register. ‘I think he’s trapped in that. Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous.’

The paper also quotes Iowa’s junior senator telling reporters, ‘It’s one thing to have been drafted and served, but another thing when you come from generations of military people and that’s just how you’re steeped, how you’ve learned, how you’ve grown up.’”

I had to read this a few times myself before... Read More

Obama: The rules apply to everyone but me

Jake Tapper over at ABC has a great post up that goes back to the point we made last week about Obama trying to set rules that apply to everyone but him.

I’m sure you’ve seen the Obama campaign and t
